Moorhead, MN - KLN for School Board is hosting a family-friendly event Saturday, August 13th from 4:00pm- 7:00pm.  The event will be held at Gooseberry Park Main Shelter:  100 22nd Ave S, Moorhead, MN.
Families are invited to come with their kids, enjoy food, games, and meet Moorhead School Board candidates, Ken Lucier, Lisa Hahn and Nikki Pollock.  It is requested that all children under the age of twelve are accompanied by an adult.
Ken, Lisa and Nikki are doing a joint campaign for the three open School Board positions.  The joint platform consists of protecting parental rights, advancing education- not indoctrination, and wise use of tax payer dollars.
The recent vote of the Fargo School Board to remove the Pledge of Allegiance from the beginning of School Board meetings is of great concern to our community.  Last summer when current school board member, Kara Gloe, refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and instead, shuffled papers during the recitation, upset many parents and veterans in our local area.
KLN for School Board respects our veterans who sacrificed their time, health and even their lives, so we could be free.  The team supports teaching history that unites us as Americans.  No matter what country your bloodline represents, your family came to this land for a reason - Freedom.  It is important that students learn and find their identity as Americans, an identity that unites us.
It is also vital for students to learn WHY people from other countries sought freedom and what it took to become free.  To maintain and advance our freedoms, students must learn and be aware of the traps and strategies used to slowly deprive us of our rights and eventually lead us back to slavery.  To overcome these pitfalls, students must develop and consistently use creative and critical thinking skills, while growing courage to take action when they see injustice.
In response to the current school board administration silencing the voice of parents last summer regarding mask mandates, Ken Lucier, Lisa Hahn and Nikki Pollock state their strong support of parental rights over their child’s healthcare.  The school board, administrators and staff should not politicize private family health care decisions.
